Liturgy of the Word

First reading

Jude 1:17, 20-25

Remember, my dear friends, what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ told you to expect. But you, my dear friends, must use your most holy faith as your foundation and build on that, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves within the love of God and wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you eternal life.  When there are some who have doubts reassure them; when there are some to be saved from the fire, pull them out; but there are others to whom you must be kind with great caution, keeping your distance even from outside clothing which is contaminated by vice.

Glory be to Him who can keep you from falling and bring you safe to His glorious presence, innocent and happy.  To God, the only God, who saves us through Jesus Christ our Lord, be the glory, majesty, authority, and power, which He had before time began, now and for ever.

Amen.

Responsorial Psalm

Psalm 62:2-6

R/ For you my soul is thirsting, O Lord my God.

O God, you are my God, for you I long;/ for you my soul is thirsting./ My body pines for you/ like a dry, weary land without water.

R/ For you my soul is thirsting, O Lord my God.

So I gaze on you in the sanctuary/ to see your strength and your glory./ For your love is better than life,/ my lips will speak your praise.

R/ For you my soul is thirsting, O Lord my God.

So I will bless you all my life,/ in your name I will lift up my hands./ My soul shall be filled as with a banquet,/ my mouth shall praise you with joy.

R/ For you my soul is thirsting, O Lord my God.

For you have been my help;/ in the shadow of your wings I rejoice./ My soul clings to you;/ your right hand holds me fast.

R/ For you my soul is thirsting, O Lord my God.

Gospel Acclamation

Alleluia, alleluia!

Alleluia!

Gospel

Mark 11:27-33

Jesus and his disciples came to Jerusalem, and as Jesus was walking into the Temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to him, and they said to him, ‘What authority have you for acting like this? Or who gave you authority to do these things?’ Jesus said to them, ‘I will ask you a question, only one; answer me and I will tell you my authority for acting like this.  John’s baptism: did it come from heaven, or from man? Answer me that.’ And they argued it out this way among themselves: ‘if we say from heaven, he will say, “Then why did you refuse to believe him?”  But dare we say from man?’ – they had the people to fear, for everyone held that John was a real prophet.  So their reply to Jesus was, ‘We do not know.’ And Jesus said to them, ‘Nor will I tell you my authority for acting like this.’

Homily

Intercessions

For the Church:

Today the church remembers Blessed Margaret Pole who was beheaded at the tower on this day in 1541.  Her last words were “Blessed are they who suffer persecution for righteousness sake”.  We pray for all who suffer for their faith today, and for unity amongst Christians.

For the world:

We pray for peace in our world, and for all in positions where they can influence the way forward for greater cooperation between Nations and for an end to conflict.  We mention in a special way the mother and daughter in the photo, caught up in the holocaust, to whom the very first ever Mass in The Way of Love chapel is dedicated.

For those in need:

Let us pray for those in need today, We think especially of those in need of redemption, those who are persecuted, and for refugees.  We also pray for our homeless brothers and sisters.

For our own needs:

We bring to the Lord Amber and her family, and pray that they will be blessed by the creation of a chapel in their home.  May all who come here to pray, or for spiritual direction be truly blessed.

(We then offered up our personal prayer intention one by one) …….

We unite our Prayer with those of the Virgin Mary the Mother of Christ  (one of the Mary’s to whom this chapel is dedicated) as we say

Hail Mary full of Grace …….

Liturgy of the Eucharist

Offertory Prayer

Let us pray.  May the glorious merits of the Blessed Mary Magdalene, we beseech thee O Lord, make our offerings acceptable to Thee, for Thine only begotten Son vouchsafed graciously to accept the humble service she rendered.  We ask this through Him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, One God for and ever.

Amen

Rite of Communion

Communion Antiphon

I will sing to the Lord who has been bountiful with me, sing psalms to the name of the Lord Most High.

Reflection after Communion

TO THE LADY MAGDALENE HERBERT, OF ST MARY MAGDALENE ~ by John Donne

HER of your name whose fair inheritance

Bethina was, and jointure Magdalo,

An active faith so highly did advance,

That she once knew more than the Church did know,

The Resurrection ; so much good there is

Deliver’d of her, that some Fathers be

Loth to believe one woman could do this ;

But think these Magdalenes were two or three.

Increase their number, Lady, and their fame ;

To their devotion add your innocence ;

Take so much of th’ example as of the name,

The latter half ;  and in some recompense,

That they did harbour Christ Himself, a guest,

Harbour these hymns, to His dear Name address’d.

Prayer after Communion

May the prayers of the blessed Mary of Bethany help us, O Lord, for it was in answer to them that thou didst call her brother Lazarus, four days after death, back from the grave of life, Who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever, world without end.

Amen.

Dearest Lord,

Thank you for blessing us All ….. So profoundly.

I Love you with All my heart

Love Amber
